b) Governance and facilitation: Action was taken to provide for the role of OOL facilitator. Program names were drawn out of a hat and the facilitation schedule was determined as follows:
c) Mark Finch will forward to Jim Saffeels the School District 4j group agreements as a model. Jim will send them out via the OOL listserve. Each member should review the agreements and come prepared to develop a set tailored for the OOL group meetings. d) Action was taken to provide for the role of minutes recorder. It was decided that the program next in line for facilitation would fill the recorder role. The schedule is as follows.
e) A proposal was made for the format of future OOL meeting agendas but not acted upon. The proposal was to showcase a different program at each meeting. This was to take approximately one-third of the meeting time. f) Marty Karlin completed his role of facilitator and the role was turned over to Jim Safeels. A large thank you to Marty from all the OOL participants for his service this past year.
g) A discussion around the purpose of OOL was conducted. It was determined that the OOL group has three chief tasks for the next year. 1) To review Oregon Department of Education policies and raise issues or policy questions as they relate to educational issues around e-learning. These questions and suggested solutions should be sent back to the Oregon Department of Education. 2) To continue to learn from each other’s successes and failures. 3) To continue our efforts to develop educators capable of teaching and learning online. It was suggested that the ad hoc committee that has formed around last years OLI continue and will invite any interested parties to participate in the planning for the next summer institute. iv) Announcements: a) Send your current enrollment numbers to Camille Cole (student numbers not course seats occupied). b) Cudos to Tina Mondale for being this years representative to NASCU. c) ODE will soon launch it e-learning Web site. |
